Admissions

George Spencer Academy observes local authority admissions protocols, with priority given to children with special educational needs or additional support requirements; and increasingly, from within the broader Spencer family of schools.

In addition to welcoming children from the broader Spencer family of schools, George Spencer Academy particularly welcomes children from the local area, even if they don’t currently attend one of the named family of schools. Local applicants in this position often find they successfully secure a place on this basis.

Parents of children in Year 6 will receive a letter from the Local Authority inviting them to apply for a place at their preferred secondary school in early September.

Information on applying for a place through the Nottinghamshire County Council’s Coordinated Admissions Scheme is available here.

The Admissions Policy includes detailed information on the applications process; the special consideration given to applications on behalf of children with special education needs and support requirements; and the criteria used when the school is over-subscribed.

A copy of the school Admissions Policies can be found below.

Catchment Area for applications for September 2023 onwards

Criteria 6 of our Admission Arrangements gives priority to students who reside in the catchment areas of Chetwynd Spencer Academy, Fairfield Spencer Academy and Bispham Drive Primary School. Details of the catchment area for each of these schools can be found here:

The fact that a child lives within the catchment area of one of the George Spencer Family of Schools does not guarantee a school place. See section on Admission Oversubscription criteria.
