Course Information

A Level History is consistently one of the most popular and highest-performing courses at GSA. History A Level investigates people and societies of the past and considers their impact on and their relevance to our lives today. It is also about how the past is interpreted differently by historians. You will gain a wide ranging understanding of politics, economics, society and international relations. Not only will you develop an analytical and critical mind, an understanding of current affairs and other cultures but also the capacity to weigh arguments and respect different viewpoints. Our course has an unusually wide chronological and thematic range and provides an excellent preparation for the study of History at university.

 

Possible Career Paths

History is a very useful subject to take for a wide variety of careers, including: lawyer, journalist, politics, international relations, business, teaching, museum work or archaeology.

It is a ‘facilitating subject’ and is respected as a high-status academic course by professions and universities.
