Ski Trip Information, February 2022

Dear Parent/Guardian

I have the pleasure in inviting your child to attend a skiing trip to Axamer Lizum, Austria. This will take place between Friday 11th – Friday 18th February 2022. Axamer Lizum was the host of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and offers a variety of pistes from beginners to advanced. Our existing ski tour company ‘Visions in Education’ will be working alongside us to plan our trip and will also provide us with an in-resort representative. I would also like to assure you that we have full insurance that covers all eventualities including COVID safe insurance.

Some of the highlights of our trip include:

• Travel on a luxury coach with channel crossing
• Accommodation in a 3-star hotel – Hotel Olympia
• 5 days’ skiing in the Axamer Lizum region with a variety of beginners, red, blue and black runs as well as a snow park
• Full board (breakfast and dinner in the hotel and hot lunches on the mountain)
• Evening apres package (to possibly include bowling, shopping, disco, swimming etc).
• Trip hoodie

We would like to offer this opportunity to a group of 50 students from the present Year 7-10 at the provisional cost of £890. However, this price, is based on the assumption that all 50 places are taken up, and therefore this price is subject to change depending on numbers. As with previous years, if we attract interest in excess of 50 then places will be allocated on a random basis with unsuccessful students placed on a waiting list. To request a place on the trip please complete the Google form by Thursday 6th May 2021. If your child is successful you will be notified and an initial non-refundable deposit of £75 will be required.

 We are also pleased to confirm and guarantee that should we be unable to travel in 2022, a full refund, including the deposit, will be issued.

Payments should be made by ‘SQuid’, to reduce risks associated with students transporting cash. Please contact the finance department should there be any concerns regarding payment. cladley@george-spencer.notts.sch.uk

Please note that George Spencer Academy will not allow any student to participate in a school residential activity when the total payment due for the trip has not been received at least 48 hours before the departure date. We reserve the right to withdraw any student should parents/guardians not have discussed the shortfall with the Finance Director by this deadline and agreed how the balance will be guaranteed. Depending upon the circumstances of each case, cancellation charges made by external providers may be incurred by the student’s parent, and any deposits paid may be lost.
