In line with the latest changes to government guidance which comes into effect from Monday 17th May, students will no longer be required to wear a face covering in classrooms. At George Spencer Academy we continue to work hard to keep the school safe and we welcome your continued support.
From Monday the following measures will be in place for the use of face coverings on site:
– Students will have the choice to wear a face covering in classrooms if they feel more comfortable continuing to wear one.
– All other expectations regarding face covering remain the same.
Students and staff must wear a face covering in indoor communal areas, including corridors, and shared spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained. Examples of this includes: queuing in the canteen, and indoor movement between lessons.
On Friday 14th May our Learning Managers will be delivering form time sessions to their form groups on these updated expectations. There will be an opportunity for your child to ask any questions.
This approach will remain in place until after the half term break when we will review this again when the government announces the next stage of their roadmap in June. The government guidance does state that ‘The reintroduction of face coverings for pupils, students or staff may be advised for a temporary period in response to particular localised outbreaks, including variants of concern’.
We would update you should this affect George Spencer Academy.
Thank you for your continued support.
